ABOUT

In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate…

The Women’s Mosque of America is the nation’s first women-led Muslim house of worship. Founded in Los Angeles, California, WMA seeks to uplift the Muslim community by expanding access for women and girls to Islamic scholarship, religious leadership, and meaningful participation in communal religious life.

WMA provides a space where women are welcomed, respected, and actively engaged within the Muslim Ummah. Our work complements existing mosques by offering opportunities for women to grow in knowledge, confidence, and spiritual leadership—impact that they carry back into their families and communities.

Historically, the Women’s Mosque of America has hosted women-led Friday jumma’a services for women and children (including boys 12 and under) in Southern California, along with additional programming, events, and classes open to people of all genders. These offerings center female Muslim scholars and elevate women’s perspectives on Islamic knowledge, practice, and spirituality.

At this time, the Women’s Mosque of America is in a period of organizational pause as we focus on internal alignment, sustainability, and long-term planning. We remain deeply committed to our mission and look forward to sharing updates about future programming and opportunities for engagement when appropriate, insha’Allah.
